On August 17, 2004, TH Lee Putnam Ventures, a Budd Larner client, together with Freeman Spogli, acquired a significant equity interest in N.E.W. Customer Service Companies, Inc., the leading independent administrator of warranty and extended service contracts for retailers, utilities, manufacturers and financial service firms in the United States, at an enterprise value of approximately $370 million. James Fitzsimmons, together principally with Pamela Lopata, represented TH Lee Putnam Ventures in this extremely complex and financially significant transaction which is TH Lee Putnam Ventures' second largest equity investment. The other law firms involved included Mintz Levin, Cahill Gordon and Weil Gotshal. The transaction is a lead article in The Daily Deal of August 18, 2004, mentioning Budd Larner and specifically James Fitzsimmons, as Counsel to TH Lee Putnam Ventures on this equity investment.
