J. Brooke Hern Counsel
Brooke Hern specializes in civil litigation, trials and adversary proceedings. He has successfully tried cases involving breach of contract and fraud claims. He has represented clients in matters involving employment law and litigation, personal injury, trademark disputes, and in actions brought under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, the New Jersey Planned Real Estate Development Full Disclosure Act, state Wage and Hour law, and the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. In addition, Mr. Hern represents clients in matters involving corporate counseling, and commercial transactions. Mr. Hern has also represented clients in contract negotiations and in negotiations with government entities offering economic development incentives. As a registered lobbyist, he represents clients in matters involving the New Jersey State Legislature, Department of Environmental Protection, Economic Development Authority, Commerce Commission, Executive Branch, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, among other agencies. Prior to beginning his law practice, Mr. Hern served as a Congressional aide, as director of public affairs at the New Jersey Department of Commerce and Economic Development, and as chief of staff for a member of the state legislature.

    • Mr. Hern is a Councilman in the Borough of New Providence, and serves as Chairman of the Borough's Long Range Planning Committee, and as Co-Chairman of Department of Public Works and the Legal and Regulatory Committee. Mr. Hern also serves as Co-Chair of the Borough's Diversity Task Force, and as Council Liaison to Borough's Information Technology Committee, 20/20 Citizens Advisory Committee to the Borough Planning Board, Economic Development Committee, and Affordable Housing Committee.
    • Mr. Hern is a former trustee of the United Way of Summit, Berkeley Heights and New Providence, and a 2001 Fellow of Leadership New Jersey. He formerly served as a member of the Legal Affairs Committee and Government Affairs Committee of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association ("NJBIA"). In addition, he is a former Commissioner-Designate of the Delaware and Raritan Canal Transportation Safety Study Commission.
